Task 1: Giving Advice (30s prep, 90s speak)

Scenario: A friend asks for advice about a situation.

Structure: 1. Acknowledge the situation (10s) 2. Give your advice (30s) 3. Explain why this advice is good (30s) 4. Encourage them / offer additional support (20s)

Example Opening:

"I understand you're having trouble deciding whether to...
That's definitely a tough situation. Here's what I think
you should do..."


Task 2: Personal Experience (30s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Describe a personal experience related to a topic.

Structure: 1. Introduce the experience (10s) 2. Describe what happened (30s) 3. Explain how you felt / what you learned (20s)

Example Opening:

"I'd like to tell you about a time when... This happened
about [timeframe] ago, and it really taught me..."


Task 3: Describing a Scene (30s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Look at a picture and describe what you see.

Structure: 1. General overview (15s) 2. Specific details - people, objects, actions (30s) 3. Atmosphere/mood or speculation (15s)

Example Opening:

"In this picture, I can see... The scene appears to be
taking place in... Let me describe what's happening in
more detail..."

Tip: Use the PALM method: - People - Who's there? - Action - What are they doing? - Location - Where is this? - Mood - What's the atmosphere?


Task 4: Making Predictions (30s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Based on information given, predict what will happen.

Structure: 1. Summarize the situation (15s) 2. Make your prediction (20s) 3. Explain your reasoning (25s)

Example Opening:

"Based on what I've heard/seen, I predict that...
The reason I think this will happen is because..."


Task 5: Comparing and Persuading (60s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Compare two options and persuade someone to choose one.

Structure: 1. Acknowledge both options (10s) 2. State your recommendation (10s) 3. Give reasons for your choice (30s) 4. Conclude persuasively (10s)

Example Opening:

"Both options have their merits, but I would strongly
recommend... Let me explain why this is the better choice..."


Task 6: Difficult Situation (60s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Handle a challenging or awkward situation.

Structure: 1. Acknowledge the problem (10s) 2. Show empathy/understanding (15s) 3. Propose a solution (25s) 4. End positively (10s)

Example Opening:

"I understand this is a difficult situation, and I
appreciate you bringing it to my attention. Let me
see how we can resolve this..."


Task 7: Expressing Opinions (30s prep, 90s speak)

Scenario: Give your opinion on a topic with reasons.

Structure: 1. State your opinion clearly (15s) 2. First reason with example (30s) 3. Second reason with example (30s) 4. Conclude (15s)

Example Opening:

"In my opinion, [topic] is... I feel this way for
several reasons. First of all..."


Task 8: Unusual Situation (30s prep, 60s speak)

Scenario: Respond to a picture showing something unusual or problematic.

Structure: 1. Describe what's unusual (15s) 2. Explain potential causes/effects (25s) 3. Suggest what should happen next (20s)

Example Opening:

"Looking at this picture, I notice something quite
unusual... This is concerning because... I think what
should happen next is..."
